Keyboarding & Piano Instruction
By Stephen Mutch

Bio

Joining Mike's School of Blues and Rock, Stephen Mutch comes from both a unique and extensive musical background with experience in not only classical piano and sight reading, but also ear training and chord-based applications in band-related settings. As a classically trained pianist for over ten years, Stephen’s musical involvement has consisted of local music venues through his high school, college, and church, as well as various community organized events. Aside from piano and keyboarding, Stephen’s musical skills and interests range from pro-recording to live audio production, guitar, and drums. Stephen is currently a sophomore at the University of Washington, and hopes to incorporate his musical interests into a future career.

Methods

Stephen’s lessons in piano and keyboard cater towards both the beginning and intermediate musician and encompass a broad range of rudimentary and advanced musical theory, sight reading, chording, ear training, and applications in Blues and Rock. His lessons interweave both the necessary classical, fundamental, and theory-based training that provides a foundation in music and piano, as well as contemporary style which involves the use of keyboarding, chord structures and improvisation. Aside from private lessons, Stephen provides his students with hands-on opportunities to practice and perform in band settings, in conjunction with Mike’s School of Blues and Rock.
